Designated Architectural Landmark
Designed in 1928 by prolific theater artist Thomas Lamb, Paramount Hotel
was constructed in an effort to expand the Times Square theater district
and to better appeal to New York visitors. The hotel’s French Renaissance
design creates a distinct presence on 46th Street and continues to uphold
the luxurious and sophisticated style just west of Broadway. As part of
Paramount’s preservation, marquees that were once outside the hotel entrance
and Billy Rose’s Diamond Horseshoe supper club have been restored, along
with two flag poles and the building’s detailed façade.
