As a hospitality marketing agency we try to stay up to date with the biggest news stories in the industry. Earlier this month Marriott became one of the biggest stories of the year so far by launching their exciting new BONVOY rewards program!
What is it?
When Marriott merged with Starwood in 2016 there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of the company moving forward. One big area of uncertainty was how reward programs would function. Marriott Bonvoy aims to finally relieve this confusion by combining all of the existing Starwood and Marriott rewards programs under a single brand.
After the 2016 merger, Ritz-Carlton Rewards, Marriott Rewards and the Starwood Preferred guest program still functioned as three separate rewards programs. This changed last August when Marriott introduced shared benefits. Now with Bonvoy all three programs will be completely united under a single name and brand.
What does it entail?
Marriott’s 120 million members have access to Marriott Rewards and SPG moments that bring exploration and discovery of the world to the forefront. Those together will feature approximately 120,000 experiences in 1,000 different destinations available for purchase by redeeming points. In addition to all of the amazing sights and excursions, members have the chance to indulge in once in a lifetime experiences with Marriott Bonvoy.
