PAGE 4 • Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley Creativity, Community, and Cans WHERE IMAGINATION HELPS FIGHT HUNGER This spring, creativity and compassion came together at Eastwood Mall for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley’s annual Canstruction® event. The event challenges local businesses, organizations, schools, and community groups to build structures entirely out of canned and nonperishable food items. Over the course of two days, participating teams transformed thousands of cans into creative works of art, showcasing incredible engineering and teamwork. Together, the displays collected more than 7,000 pounds of food that will help nourish local families facing hunger. After careful consideration by our panel of judges, this year’s award winners were: Once the displays are dismantled, all food used in the structures will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank and distributed through our network of more than 160 partner agencies throughout Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties. We are grateful to every team, volunteer, sponsor, judge, and visitor who helped make this year’s event a success.
