From Comments to Conversations: Meta Is Testing Automated Instagram DM Responses

Instagram is testing a new feature that could make it easier for businesses to connect with their audience directly through their ads. Meta is testing Reply to Keywords, a new option that lets advertisers automatically send a private message to their audience when they comment a keyword on an ad. This is currently being tested with select advertisers and is only available for Instagram ads right now.
How does this work? It is super simple. Businesses can start by including something in their ad such as “Have any questions? Comment “MORE” below!” This will then send an automatic DM because of the specific word commented on the ad. Advertisers are currently able to select up to 5 words that will trigger an automated DM.
This feature could be very helpful for businesses. It can help with lead generation, promotions, product information, events, and much more. So, instead of saying “click the link below”, a message can be sent through direct message instead, which creates instant conversation.
Businesses should also keep in mind that when using this tool, their messages should be beneficial for their customers. The message should feel helpful, not just a sales pitch. This feature is still being tested, so some businesses may not have access to it just yet.
While this tool is currently only available on Instagram’s paid side, we’ll be keeping a close eye on whether it eventually rolls out to Instagram’s organic social capabilities as well.
Whether you’re looking to answer questions, share more information, or guide customers toward the next step, automated responses can help your brand connect with its audience more efficiently while keeping the conversation going.
