Volunteer Appreciation
CELEBRATING THOSE WHO GIVE THEIR TIME
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we 
do at Second Harvest Food Bank. Their 
dedication and compassion help ensure that 
our neighbors facing hunger receive the 
support they need every single day.
In 2025 alone, more than 10,000 hours of 
time were generously donated—equivalent 
to the work of 10 part-time employees. In 
addition, over 1,500 volunteers each month 
supported our network of 160 partner 
agencies, helping distribute food throughout 
the Mahoning Valley.
Inside the food bank, we are fortunate to 
have weekly volunteer groups who lend a 
hand sorting donations, packing boxes, and 
assisting with clerical tasks. We’re also 
regularly joined by teams from local 
businesses, 
schools, 
and 
community 
organizations who take time out of their 
schedules to give back in a meaningful way.
April is recognized as Volunteer Appreciation 
Month, and we also celebrated National 
Volunteer Week with special giveaways, 
snacks, and plenty of gratitude. The truth is 
simple: we appreciate our volunteers every 
day. Their generosity fuels our mission. 
Their time changes lives.
To every volunteer who has stepped up to 
help—thank you. You are an essential part 
of our work, and our community is stronger 
because of you.
